You're not imagining it.
The data confirms what you already know.

Every number below represents a system not a personal failure. Understanding the data is the first step to building a strategy that works inside it.

Representation & Leadership
4–5%
Black employees make up 12.8% of the U.S. workforce but hold just 4–5% of senior leadership positions. The pipeline isn't broken. The door at the top is.
Fast Company · 2025
<3%
Black professionals hold fewer than 3% of senior corporate jobs despite representing 13% of the U.S. population, and that gap is not shrinking.
Kapable Leadership Data · 2024
11
As of 2024, just 11 Black CEOs lead S&P 500 and Fortune 500 companies in an economy of hundreds of major corporations. Progress has been almost imperceptibly slow.
Kapable · 2024
16.3%
The percentage of Black employees in leadership positions has declined from 20% in 2019 to 16.3% in 2024. Black representation in leadership is not stalling. It is actively moving backward.
Washington Post Workforce Demographics · Forbes · 2024
Promotion & Pay
21%
Black professionals earn 21% less than white colleagues in identical roles. The wage gap is most severe in the industries where diverse product professionals are most likely to work: finance, tech, and healthcare.
Economic Policy Institute · Wilson & Rodgers
5%
At the senior manager and VP level, Black workers make up just 5% of the workforce. At SVP level, that drops to 4%. The higher you go, the fewer you see and the harder the climb becomes without a sponsor.
CNBC Workforce Analysis
50%
Job applicants with traditionally Black names receive 50% fewer callbacks than white applicants with identical qualifications. The bias starts before you walk in the door and compounds throughout your career.
Bertrand & Mullainathan landmark study
95 yrs
McKinsey estimates it will take 95 years for Black employees to reach parity at all levels of the private sector at the current rate of change. For every 100 men promoted to manager, only 60 Black women are promoted. This is not a pipeline problem. It is a promotion problem.
McKinsey & Company · Workplace Diversity Report · 2025
The Post-DEI Reality
10×
Major companies began losing Black workers in 2022. Those losses gathered momentum in 2023 growing almost tenfold. The gains made after 2020 are being systematically reversed.
Bloomberg · Corporate DEI Analysis · 2024
39%
Of U.S. workers reported a rollback in DEI practices at their companies by 2025. Walmart, Amazon, Meta, Google, and others have scaled back or eliminated programs leaving Black professionals without institutional support.
Ongig · 2025
65%
Of Black professionals say race makes it harder to advance in corporate America. Only 16% of white professionals agree. The barrier is real and nearly invisible to the people with the power to remove it.
Coqual Being Black in Corporate America
Wellbeing & Burnout
6.5%
Black workers face an unemployment rate of 6.5% more than double the 3% rate for white workers. Job security is not equally distributed, and the margin for error is narrower at every level.
Bureau of Labor Statistics · 2024
Higher
chance of
Black workers face greater barriers to mental health support than any other demographic. They are more likely to report racism exclusion, hostility, microaggressions, and discrimination that directly affects their mental health and performance.
The Hartford Workplace Report · 2024
Black professionals are twice as likely to be stuck at mid-management without advancement despite meeting every criteria they were told to meet. The Product Inner Circle exists because waiting for the system to fix itself is not a strategy.

Is this you?

You're doing the work.
The results aren't adding up.

This mastermind is for you if:

  • You're a diverse PM or PMM with 5–15 years of experience operating at the next level but the promotion keeps not coming.
  • You've been told you're "not ready" but no one can tell you specifically what ready looks like for someone at your level.
  • You're doing excellent work that keeps showing up in someone else's presentation or getting credited to someone else's name.
  • You have mentors. What you don't have is a sponsor someone putting your name in rooms you're not in.
  • You've watched less experienced colleagues get promoted on the same timeline you were told you needed more time on.
  • Your company's DEI programs are being rolled back and the safety net you were counting on is disappearing.
  • You're exhausted from code-switching, tone-policing, and performing a version of yourself that isn't fully you.
  • You're ready to stop surviving corporate America and start navigating it with strategy, community, and a plan.

This mastermind is not for you if:

  • You want a feel-good program that avoids the hard conversations about race and corporate power
  • You're not willing to be honest about what's actually happening in your workplace with yourself or the cohort
  • You can't commit to showing up for yourself and the team throughout this 4-month process
  • You believe the solution is to work harder and hope leadership eventually notices
  • You're looking for a networking event with a mastermind label on it

Month 01 Foundation
Who You Are
"Know yourself so no room can shake you."
  • S1 → Introductions, origin stories, and the cost of code-switching. Members share backgrounds, name their challenges, and establish the cohort's psychological safety container.
  • S2 → Leadership identity and values. Build your personal leadership manifesto who you are as a leader, on your own terms, before anyone else defines it for you.
Month 02 The Unwrittens
What's Happening to You
"Name it to navigate it."
  • S3 → The 12 unwritten rules of corporate America operating against Black professionals every day that nobody puts in the employee handbook. Every member gets the floor.
  • S4 → Hot seat sessions. Each member walks through their specific situation the real thing ailing them in their environment and the cohort responds with strategy, not sympathy.
Month 03 Navigation
How to Move Through It
"Every power tactic has a counter."
  • S5 → The 48 Laws of Power mapped to the unwrittens. Members identify which laws are being used against them and the counter-moves available in response. Strategy over suffering.
  • S6 → Power mapping, sponsor activation, and difficult conversation playbooks. The tools for the hardest situations they face prepared responses, relationship maps, energy protection plans.
Month 04 Capstone
What You're Going to Do About It
"Strategy without a plan is a wish."
  • S7 → Career level-up plan workshop. Every member builds their 90-day plan with dated actions, named people, and specific outcomes across three lanes: career, relationships, and leadership.
  • S8 → The declaration. Each member presents their plan to the full cohort, makes a public commitment, and signs the pay-it-forward covenant. Graduation. Send-off. What comes next begins now.
What you build

You don't just attend.
You produce.

Every member leaves with a portfolio of career assets built progressively over 4 months constructed from their actual situation, not a generic template.

Before Day 1
3 SMART goals + leadership self-assessment
One goal each for leadership, visibility, and career progression. Specific, measurable, and tied to your actual promotion timeline. Revisited every session so nothing stays theoretical.
Month 1
Personal leadership manifesto
A one-page declaration of your values, leadership style, origin story, and non-negotiables. The foundation everything else is built on. Replaces the vague elevator pitch with a grounded statement of who you are.
Month 2
Personal brand one-pager + network expansion log
A crisp articulation of what you're known for, what you want to be known for, and your sponsorship ask. Paired with a running tracker of intentional relationship-building quality, not quantity.
Month 3
Power map + difficult conversation playbook
A visual map of every stakeholder who has a vote in your next promotion and a plan to move each one. Plus prepared responses for the hardest situations you face: the microaggression, the credit theft, the biased review.
Capstone Month 4
90-day career level-up plan presented to the cohort
The program's defining deliverable. Specific, dated actions across three lanes. Presented aloud to 15 peers who will hold you to it. This is the plan that changes your career.
90 days after graduation
Alumni follow-up + before & after self-assessment
A structured check-in that closes the loop. What did you do? What changed? The same self-assessment from intake, completed again so you can see your growth in numbers, not just feelings.
The unwritten rules

The rules nobody told you
but everyone enforces.

Month 2 and Month 3 are built around the 12 unwritten rules that most affect Black professionals in corporate America. We don't just name them we map them to the 48 Laws of Power and build your counter-moves.

Rule 01
Your natural appearance may be coded as unprofessional
The standard is set by whiteness and never stated explicitly but consistently enforced.
Rule 02
Code-switching is required but never acknowledged
The silent demand to perform a version of yourself that costs you something every single day.
Rule 03
Showing frustration will be labeled aggression
Tone policing one of the most effective silencing mechanisms deployed against Black professionals.
Rule 04
Any visible emotion is held against you
Feel nothing visibly or be penalized. The emotional suppression tax is real and undocumented.
Rule 05
Your work will be credited to others if you don't protect it
Credit theft is systematic, operates through plausible deniability, and disproportionately hits Black professionals.
Rule 06
You must be twice as good to be half as credible
The performance double standard is documented research not perception, not imagination.
Rule 07
The informal network is where decisions happen and you're excluded
Golf outings, text threads, hallway conversations the invisible layer where careers are made and broken.
Rule 08
Mentors are plentiful. Sponsors are almost nonexistent.
Everyone wants to advise you. Almost no one will put their name and capital behind you.
Rule 09
You're expected to represent your entire race without compensation
The invisible second job DEI labor, community spokesperson that no one acknowledges or rewards.
Rule 10
Naming race as a factor carries career risk
The "race card" accusation is itself a silencing mechanism and calling it out makes you the problem.
Rule 11
The "Black track" leads to a ceiling, not the top
Being funneled into DEI or support roles away from the P&L tracks that lead to real power.
Rule 12
In the post-DEI era, you have fewer institutional protections
The safety net is gone. Your strategy must be built on individual power not corporate good intentions.

From the community

What happens when diverse product
professionals stop navigating alone.

"I've had three mentors for two years and none of them have ever said my name in a room I wasn't in. This program gave me the language to understand why and exactly what to do about it."

Kenny Donahue

Senior Product Manager, Learfield/Sidearm Sports

"Month 3 was the most honest conversation I've ever had about corporate politics. Nobody sanitized it. Nobody told me to just work harder. We talked about the actual game being played and how to play it."

Product Marketing Manager, Fintech

Cohort Member

"I came in with a vague feeling that something was wrong. I left with a power map, a sponsor activation plan, and a 90-day plan with actual dates and actual names. This is what preparation looks like."

Questions

What you need
to know.

Diverse product managers and product marketing managers with 5–15 years of experience navigating mid-to-senior corporate roles. You're not early career. You've proven yourself. And you're hitting the ceiling that the data says exists at exactly this level the one nobody officially acknowledges but everyone experiences.

Most leadership programs teach general skills in a room that doesn't understand your specific experience. This program starts from the documented reality of what diverse product professionals face the unwritten rules, the sponsorship desert, the post-DEI rollback and builds strategy from there. The cohort is the room. The context is already understood. The work is purely forward-looking.

Two 90-minute sessions per month for four months. Plus bi-weekly check-ins with your accountability partner (typically 30 minutes) and monthly written goal check-ins. The capstone plan is built in stages across the program not all at once at the end.

Yes, and most mid-career professionals have between $1,000 - $5,000 in annual professional development budgets they don't fully utilize. We provide a formal invoice and business case letter you can take to HR. The cost of this program would fall within the typical eligible range.

Because this is not a course, it is a community. Sixteen people means every member gets the floor and hot seat session throughout the process. Every accountability pair is meaningful. Every declaration in the final session is witnessed by people who know your full story. The size was a deliberate choice. We value quality over quantity.

A 30-day alumni group check-in. A private cohort community channel that belongs to the members not the program. A structured 90-day follow-up to close the loop on your action plan. And an alumni network that grows with every cohort. The program ends. The community doesn't.

If you've been waiting for the right time to invest in your career it's already here. The unwritten rules aren't waiting. The post-DEI rollback isn't waiting. The promotion cycle you're targeting isn't waiting. Apply. We'll have a conversation. If the fit isn't right, we'll tell you honestly.
